Pledge to be a model citizen

The Australian Scout Promise and Law bonds all Scouting members in Australia under a single commitment. All members promise to live by the same law and share the same values of respect, doing what is right and believing in oneself. This personal commitment also serves to unify members of Scouting.

Australian Scout Promise

The Scout Promise embodies the Principles of Scouting – Duty to God, Duty to Others and Duty to Self. The World Organisation of the Scout Movement permits each country to define Duty to God in a way that meets the needs of the society in which it operates. Scouts Australia has a definition of Spirituality that suits the needs of the program and makes a link between Duty to God and spiritual development.

There are two versions of the Australian Scout Promise. Regardless of the version, the Australian Scout Promise requires Scouts to do their best, to be open to the exploration of their own and others’ belief systems, appreciate the impact our community, country and world has on us, and in turn, what we can do for them, and to live by the agreed values contained in the Australian Scout Law.
